Ask me anything

I visited the Occupy LA camp at city hall last week and found some excellent shots of the people living and breathing the movement. It was pretty incredible. I fully support those putting their lives on hold for the movement.

I have also started increasing my professionalism with photography. I was asked to be the photographer for a wonderful girl, Ashlee’s, Bat Mitzvah last month. It was a great experience, lots of fun, and I look forward to doing this type of work again soon!

The Release of prisoners in Burma

I wrote this article on @NextGreatGen to educate the masses about the situation in Burma. Sadly, the country has been under the repressive government since 1962 after a military junta. Thousands of people have been imprisoned for speaking out against the government, and the government itself has committed more human rights violations than most countries across the globe.

The Burmese people have been living in isolation, with little known or written about their situation because of the restrictions put upon society by this corrupt government. The release of these prisoners is a huge step towards freedom, but many of the prisoners that remain are those imprisoned for political reasons. We must make sure that Burma is on the path to freedom before the international community rejoices too much. Many, many people have suffered and lost their lives fighting for freedom in the country, and we should not allow this government to maintain control if it will continue to repress its people.

My friend emailed me asking for pictures from a wedding we attended in a village in India last spring, so he could give them to the groom while he was visiting India (the groom is in plaid in the pictures). It was an unbelievably surreal evening, and the pictures accurately portray a beautifully, unforgettable experience.

I wrote this a while back for NextGreatGen and thought I’d make it my first post.

So, what’s going on?

Ongoing violence in the country is due to the refusal of current President (coughDICTATORcough) Laurent Gbagbo to leave office despite opposition leader Alassane Ouattara’s victory in a Nov. 2010 runoff election. This central African country is in chaos, and with a slim possibility of the president stepping down peacefully, there seems to be little sign of peace in sight.
